Antalya's climate at a glance
Antalya sits on the Mediterranean coast and has the climate to match: long, hot, largely dry summers and short, mild, wetter winters. Most of the year's rain falls between November and March, while July and August are reliably dry and hot. Swimming season runs roughly May through October, with the sea at its warmest in August and September.
Spring — March to May
Spring warms up quickly. March can still feel cool and occasionally wet, closer to 15–18°C, while by May temperatures regularly reach the mid-to-high 20s°C and the sea starts to feel swimmable for most people. This is a comfortable time to explore without summer's heat, and a popular shoulder-season choice for travellers who prefer fewer crowds.
Summer — June to September
This is peak Antalya heat: daytime temperatures typically sit between 30–35°C, sometimes higher in July and August, with strong sun and very little rain. Humidity along the coast can make it feel warmer still. Evenings cool only modestly, so air conditioning matters both at your hotel and, frankly, in whatever car takes you there from the airport.
Autumn — October to November
October is often the best-kept secret of the Antalya calendar — the sea is still warm from summer, daytime temperatures ease to the low-to-mid 20s°C, and the worst of the heat has passed. By November, temperatures drop further into the mid-teens and rain becomes more frequent, marking the transition into winter.
Winter — December to February
Winter in Antalya is mild by European standards but genuinely wet — this is the rainy season, with daytime temperatures typically 10–15°C and a real chance of showers on any given day. It's not swimming weather, but it's far from harsh, and it's the quietest, cheapest time to visit if you're after golf, hiking, or the Antalya old town without the crowds.

What this means for your airport arrival
Stepping off a plane in July into 35°C heat after a long flight can be a shock, even for travellers used to warm climates — have light, breathable clothes accessible in your hand luggage rather than buried in a checked bag. In winter, the opposite applies: pack a light rain jacket and don't assume Turkey's south coast means guaranteed sunshine in January.
